Junior Shooting Sports Program
As the Nashville community becomes more urbanized, opportunities for young people to learn and enjoy shooting sports is rapidly decreasing. The Junior Shooting Sports Program at Guns and Leather is an effort to expose youths to the joys that shooting sports can bring to an individual. Our youth program concept is similar in expectation to that of most after school athletic programs, as we feel this would further enhance a youths educational experience in a well rounded manner.
Overview
We begin by providing basic level firearms orientation and educating each student with the signficant importance of firearms safety; ensuring gun safety principles become the foundation upon which all other lessons are taught throughout the program. We then teach elemental concepts surrounding gun terminology, marksmanship, various shooting positions, firearms maintenance and conclude with competitive drills.
Our goal is to introduce shooting fundamentals, educate firearms safety, and promote the sport of shooting to youths in a safe manner. Furthermore, our objective is to build self-confidence and subsequently enable a more positive view towards firearms at an earlier age.
Students are exposed to .22 small caliber firearms in both rifle and pistol configurations during the course. This caliber ammunition is ideal for teaching foundational shooting concepts with minimal disruptive influence of recoil, muzzle flash and increased noise levels associated with larger caliber ammunition.
We offer one on one classes. Schedules can be made weekdays after school, or weekends.
Firearms, ammunition, eye and ear protection are all provided and inclusive of the student fee.
***Minimum age level is 14 years.
This program can be taught to either individual students or as a group.
